Moises and Debbie
The AISS Bowl-A-Thon was a unique and exciting fundraising event that was held on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The AISS Bowl-A-Thon brought together AISS Scholars, Alumni, and Supporters to join in a friendly bowling competition to raise $16,000 for our AISS Class of 2019 Scholars' laptops.
Guests enjoyed a full filled day with AiSS scholar Chelsea Gomez taking home an autographed Clippers basketball as the top scorer. Kiwanis and Friends Team had the highest team score, which included Beatriz Mendoza, Jennifer Delson and scholars, Fatima Duran, Ixcel Guzman, and Julian Reyes. Moises Ramirez, won the largest donor secured award, along with his team, Modern Woodmen winning Largest Team Donations. Their team members also included Janet Diaz, Carlos Hernandez, Hector Mora, Adan Ramirez, and Juan Soto.
Congratulations to all the winners! Thank you to everyone who participated in this event.
AISS was also very excited that they raised $200 to donate to the Veterans Legal Institute (VLI). Judy Greenspon, NPI Services, Team NPIs STEM Rollers, generously donated her half of the 50/50 drawing to VLI to support their cause of helping Veterans in need.
THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS AND DONORS
We were hosting a Bowl-A-Thon to raise money for Laptops for our AISS Scholars ($600 / per scholar, $16,000 total). It costs $7,000 a year to support each scholar in the program, and our mission at AISS includes the provision of the tutoring, materials, supplies and resources they need to succeed, including laptops. As STEM students, they require high functioning laptops that will enable them to practice their coding, mathematical and scientific calculations, and engineering skills to expand their horizons.
AISS Scholars, alumni, volunteers, and supporters formed teams to compete in the first ever AISS Bowl-A-Thon, that took place on November 11th from 2:00-4:00pm at Lucky Strike Lanes at The Outlets at Orange. Our goal is to fund the purchase of laptops for all our scholars, $16,000. Each team's goal is to raise $2,000.
Two hours of bowling, beverages, and light appetizers will be available… along with a 50/50 opportunity drawing to benefit the Veterans Legal Institute!
Sign-up as an event sponsor: Sponsorship opportunities available starting at $250 , and include lots of great benefits!
Bowlers: Sign up a team, or sign-up individually and collect pledges from friends and family online or in person.
Supporter: Give to your favorite bowlers and help raise funds for AISS.
To make sure our scholars have these laptops, and can pursue their dream careers, you can join a Bowl-A-Thon Team, create your own, or support one of our teams! Donations are tax deductible.
We would like to have 8 teams of 6 bowlers. Each team will have a $2,000 fundraising goal. Teams are encouraged to raise funds by midnight Friday, November 9th. The teams will be made up of AISS Scholars, Volunteers, Supporters, Alumni, and Board Members.
Each team needs a Team Leader to build their team and support the team in their fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include holding periodic calls with your team to check in on fundraising efforts/sharing best practices and reporting updates to the Events Committee contact.
All Team Leaders can recruit bowlers from their personal/professional networks and participate in fundraising campaigns through social media, email blasts and phone calls.
Shoes and limited appetizers and beverages will be provided for each team. Teams are welcomed to purchase on their own additional refreshments.
Each team can request to have up to 3 scholars on their team. Contact Debbie Wells.
If there is excess interest in bowler/fundraising team participation, additional lanes can be added at $100 per lane, and each additional team will still have a $2,000 fundraising goal.
