Our Alumni Luncheons are always special, and this year was no different. Alumni from past AISS classes gathered with supporters and our current scholars at the Santa Ana Hometown Buffet to share their experiences.
This year, alumni speakers included Vivian Pham (Class of 2015), who recently began as a software engineer at Qualcomm and Ruth Beltran (Class of 2017), who is pursuing a Biomedical and Pre-Medicine degree at UCI and interning at a clinic. Both shared how AISS prepared them for their current paths in terms of career research and life skills like networking and public speaking.

Julian Reyes, who just finished his first semester at UC San Diego, also spoke in depth about the emotional impact AISS had on him. "I never thought I'd be in this position right now talking to you guys," Julian told the room. "I thank AISS- without them, I wouldn't be where I am right now."

All other alumni in attendance also spoke on a panel, answering questions from our current scholars and the other guests.

Our Class of 2021 also presented research projects tackling important world issues including the criminal justice system, water pollution, and college debt. Scholar Cielo Echegoyen then gave a special presentation on what being in AISS has meant to her.
