John Houten, BS

John brings over 30 years of real estate finance experience to his role at Sunwest Bank. He previously served for 15 years as President and Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of the Harbor Area, a nonprofit organization with a mission similar to that of AISS. During his tenure, he successfully raised up to $150,000 annually to support program operations.

John’s commitment to AISS is hands-on and multifaceted. He has served as a judge for the Scholars’ Social Enterprise Pitches, coordinated a field trip to Sunwest Bank, and generously provided branded backpacks and jackets for the students. In addition, he hosted the AISS Board’s End-of-Year Meeting and Holiday Luncheon. Recognizing the need for long-term sustainability, John identified the importance of establishing a Governance Committee—including a succession plan—and is now leading the effort to develop it.
