SAT/College Prep
Tutoring in Writing and Mathematics by long-time AISS Instructors Dr. Rojas and Dr. Ortiz.

Science Fridays Workshops spotlighting different STEM/ biomedical careers, including talks from our partners at Edwards Lifesciences

10th GRADE RECRUITMENT

  • Meet with High School Counselors to start the selection of students for the next cycle 
     

  • Distribute information to Counselors, Math & Science Teachers
     

  • Interview and select participants for the program
     

  • Send in request for the use of Community Facility for the Summer 
     

  • Select Summer Staff Assignments

11th GRADE SUMMER

  • SAT/ACT, and College preparation 
     

  • $500-$800 Stipend 
     

  • Personal Development: Business Etiquette, Dress for Success, & Academic Ethics
     

  • Science and Engineering Seminars

11th GRADE  School Year

  • College and SAT/ACT  Preparation
     

  • STEM Career Awareness: Study Trips to Science-based Industries, Entrepreneurial aspects of the Sciences, Business Aspects of the Sciences
     

  • Educational Development

12th GRADE SUMMER/FALL

  • Eligible students receive laptop and stipend
     

  • Educational Goal Setting: University Application Process, Study Trips, Entrance Planning, Financial Aid, Alumni/Recruiter presentations 
     

  • College Readiness: University options, applications, Personal Essay, and Portfolio Development 
     

GRADUATE SUMMER
  • Scholarship Applications and Grants follow-up
     

  • Evaluation of University Admittance and Financial Aid Packages
     

  • University Selection

Requirements for Scholar Applicants

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.5

  • Letters of recommendation (math & science teachers)

  • Student and parent agreement to attend up to 50 seminars a year

  • Eligible for federal free lunch program

  • Willing to commit to a 2-yr program beginning in the 11th grade
